As of Yesterday is the second album from Ottawa musician Trevor Alguire.His first, Narrowed Down was a surehanded album of country rock in the vein of Steve Earle and Tom Petty released under the Mercury Pickup name. Somebody obviously forgot to tell him about that sophomore jinx business,because album no.2 is a step better. As of Yesterday continues in the roots rock vein of Narrowed Down, with a slightly laidback melancholy feel. Alguire has found just the right voice for his tales of world weary travellers and lonely wanderers. With long time accomplice Tom Thompson on steel guitar harmonica and mandolin, and veterens of local bands like Starling and Department of Foreign Affairs on board the music is first rate.
